Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required; first timers accepted. License: GA or Compact license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Must-Have: Titrating cardiac drips experience and continuous telemetry monitoring; experience with neuro/stroke patients. Description: Minimum experience required is 1 year. The patient population includes adolescents to geriatrics. Responsibilities include caring for PCU level patients. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4. The unit has 36 beds with an average daily census of 30. Skills required include: BiPAP/CPAP management. Blood product administration. Cardiac telemetry monitoring. Central line care and management. Chest tube care. CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) management. Feeding tube care and management. Heparin protocols. High flow nasal cannula management. Interpretation of dysrhythmias. Isolation precautions and PPE. Management of both cardiac and vasoactive drips. Non-invasive airway management. Oxygen administration. Peripheral line care and management. Phlebotomy. PICC line management. Pre/post neurosurgery care. IV initiation and maintenance. Telemetry monitoring on the unit. Titration of cardiac and insulin drips. Tracheostomy care and management. Experience with traumatic brain injury is preferred. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and rapid response teams. The unit provides care for respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical conditions. No block scheduling available. Floating is required within the facility and within the scope of practice as needed. Compliance with onboarding is required for timely start. All compliance documents must be submitted on time. If three major holidays fall within the assignment, the traveler is expected to work two of them. Holiday blackout dates apply. Pre-approved time off must be finalized at the time of submission. All requests for time off must be finalized before orientation week.
