Department BL HUMAN RESOURCES (BL-HR-IUBLA) Department Information Indiana University (IU) Bloomington Human Resources (HR) managesday-to-day HR operations and drives the implementation of strategicpeople initiatives for 26 departments, units, and schools acrossthe IU Bloomington campus. As strategic business partners, weprovide subject matter leadership and consulting designed toincrease workplace productivity and to develop improved processesfor attracting, developing, and retaining people with the requiredskills and aptitude to meet current and future businessneeds. Job Summary Areas of responsibility may include employment and selection,classification and compensation, employee relations, and ongoing HRsupport in assigned unit(s). General Responsibilities Counsels academic and/or staff employees and management onvarious HR topics and functions; communicates and sharesunderstanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws,standards and other government regulations. Researches, responds to, and addresses various employeerelation issues such as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA),employee complaints, workers compensation, etc. Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions,in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, andlegal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to academicand/or staff employees and managers. Develops a thorough understanding of the operational strategyand culture for recruitment coordinator, school, ordepartment. Contributes and/or manages various academic and/or staff HRactivities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment,onboarding, engagement, or performance management. Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant academic and/or HRtopics. May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR teamor centers of expertise (COE) partners and develops solutions andrecommends course of action. May lead small projects or activities. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may beconsidered. Education beyond the minimum required may besubstituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimumrequired may be substituted for education. EDUCATION Required Bachelor's degree. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Resources. WORK EXPERIENCE Preferred Some experience in human resources or related field. Experience working with data entry, document handling, orsystem-based workflows across multiple systems. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Preferred SHRM-CP/PHR within 1 year from date of hire. SKILLS Required Strong verbal communication and listening skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Excellent collaboration and team building skills. Ability to influence internal and/or externalconstituents. Proactively approaches responsibilities. Knowledge of human resources policies. Exhibits understanding of Federal and State employmentlaw. Preferred Ability to learn and effectively navigate competing prioritiesin multiple HR systems and managing systems-based workflows. Ability to follow established procedures to ensure dataaccuracy and compliance in support of the employee life cycle. Exposure to enterprise HR systems, such as: Salesforce CRM (HRconsole), PeopleSoft Talent Acquisition Manager (TAM) or similarapplicant tracking systems, and Hyland OnBase or comparabledocument and records management systems. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and tooperate a computer and other standard office productivityequipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periodsof time moving around an office environment and the campus. Theperson in this role must be able to perform the essential functionswith or without an accommodation.
