Student Worker (Concessions) - C.B. Smith Park

Requirements and Preferences The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Student Worker (Concessions) at C.B. Smith Park. General Description Under general supervision, receives and processes monies for a variety of County fees and rents recreation-oriented equipment at an assigned park or facility. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Must be currently enrolled in a state licensed school, high school, college, or university and must be at least 16 years of age. Must demonstrate student status for the duration of the appointment. Special Certifications and Licenses None. Preferences Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Additional Information All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check which includes post‑offer physical examination, clearing of DCF's Affidavit of Good Moral Character ( Scope of Work Duties and Responsibilities Interacts with public, County staff, or vendors to obtain goods/services, assist them in using Department services, equipment, programs, and/or facilities, collect fees, answer questions, identify their service needs or locate missing materials. Processes money received in order to account for park user fees. Trains less experienced staff in the use of a variety of concession facility equipment and work activities to ensure proper use and correct completion of assignments. Balances cash drawer to ensure money in drawer matches funds processed. Cleans facility and/or related equipment to meet established standards/regulations, ensuring rental equipment is clean and safe and maintaining a safe working environment. Prepares contracts to regulate and document use of park facilities/equipment and establish fees to be collected. Maintains adequate amounts of supplies, materials and equipment to ensure availability of items needed for efficient operation. Issues rental equipment to generate revenue, provide recreation equipment for customer use, and control inventory. Performs related work as required. Work Environment Physical Demands Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of electronic office equipment within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
