Step into a dynamic contract opportunity serving young learners as a school psychologist in a vibrant educational environment near East Hartford, CT. This role focuses exclusively on conducting evaluations, allowing you to apply your expertise in assessment and diagnostics without the demands of ongoing counseling or therapeutic interventions. Your main setting will be a K-2 school, with occasional assignments to complete evaluations at nearby parochial schools.
This position runs from December through the end of April, providing an excellent chance to make an impact during a crucial period in the school year. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), supporting a sustainable work-life balance.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid CT School Psychologist license (CT PSYCH)
- Proven experience in school psychological assessments, particularly with elementary-age children (K-2)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other school personnel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear, comprehensive report writing
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and interpret a variety of psychological and educational evaluations for students
- Prepare detailed, accurate reports on findings to inform student support plans
- Collaborate with IEP/504 teams to provide insights from evaluation data
- Perform all evaluation tasks in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Travel as needed to nearby parochial schools for periodic assessments
