Development Assistant

Holbrook SDA Indian School in Holbrook, AZ Summary The Development Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the development team. This position will assist with school visibility, volunteer coordination, event planning, alumni relations, and planned giving efforts. The successful team member is organized, proactive, and leads with a strong customer service mindset. Key Responsibilities Attends conferences and camp meetings with and/or in place of the Development Director as an exhibitor to create increased school visibility and engage current and potential donors and volunteers. Networks with community organizations and individuals for volunteer opportunities at HIS. Networks with community organizations and individuals to coordinate school service projects for students. Assists in coordinating and supervising outside volunteer groups on campus. Assists in coordinating student mission projects. Leads tours for donors and campus visitors as needed, providing a welcoming and informative experience. Manages a Planned Giving program under the direction of the Development Director, including creating digital and printed Planned Giving content. Communicates effectively with the Development Associate to maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM/database (e.g., Bloomerang). Supports logistics for fundraising events, alumni events, and donor outreach initiatives. Creates and distributes alumni communications, including thank-you letters, email acknowledgments, event information, and stewardship updates. Other Duties Maintain a clean, well‑organized, and safety‑compliant work environment. Serve on assigned school committees and actively contribute to the mission and vision of the institution. Participate in school events, worships, assemblies, staff meetings, faculty families, and professional development programs as assigned. Promote critical thinking and problem‑solving skills within a Christian framework. Communicate regularly and professionally with students, staff, and guardians. Ensure student safety and uphold all organizational expectations as outlined in the Staff and Student Handbooks. Model a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through lifestyle, conduct, and active church participation. Required Experience and Qualifications 2–3 years of experience in fundraising, professional communication, event management, or similar fields. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Ability to handle sensitive donor, financial, and organizational information with confidentiality and professionalism. Customer service mindset and ability to work collaboratively. Passion for HIS vision and alignment with our mission and values. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, a related field, or equivalent work experience. Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Bloomerang). Basic understanding of fundraising principles and donor lifecycle. Physical Requirements and Considerations The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Candidates must be able to: Speak loudly and clearly Hear within a 30 ft range Sit for prolonged periods of time (up to eight hours) Walk up to one mile a day in varying terrain Lift or move items over 40 pounds above shoulder height Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Frequent fine motor use of hands and fingers Stamina in a variety of weather conditions while both on and off the facility grounds, eg. heat over 100 degrees, cold below 30 degrees, high winds, heavy rain, snow etc. Reports to Development Director Employment Type At Will Employee Agreement: Full-Time, Hourly #J-18808-Ljbffr Adventist Education
