About The Role Because we are single-specialty, things are much more orderly and less chaotic than other hospitals. Our full time Veterinary Technician's focus will be in all of our departments: Preparing and administering medications (oral and injectable) and completing specific treatments for each patient as directed. Monitoring all hospitalized patients throughout the day and relaying information properly to doctors about patient status. Assist with admission of new patients by placing IV catheters, collecting blood/urine as needed for testing. Taking digital x-rays and assisting veterinary neurologists with MRI and CT Gathering patient histories in exam rooms and communicating with the doctors and assisting in the examinations of patients Performing general patient husbandry by preparing food, taking patients out for walks, performing bladder expressions and bathing as needed. Knowledge of medications and being able to perform pharmacy/lab tasks. Proper rounding and full knowledge of patients for the overnight team at shift change Surgery and anesthesia training will be provided **Our Jupiter Hospital is a small team and they wear many hats throughout the day! Flexibility to work within different areas of the hospital is a requirement** We are looking for two (2) technicians to join our growing team! Weekend availability is required with either a fixed Saturday or Sunday. The shifts are 4 x 10 hour shifts; 9am-7pm shifts + on-calls in a fixed schedule Have a strong knowledge of spelling and the meaning of commonly used veterinary terminology Have exceptional knowledge of veterinary anesthesia protocols and anesthetic safety Multi-task in a fast paced working environment Maintain a high level of organization and communication Maintain accurate medical records Provide consistent quality customer service to every client and patient Accurately process invoices and payments when services are rendered as needed Work independently Minimum requirements include: HS diploma or equivalent. At least 3 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician CVT or equivalent is strongly preferred - Pay starts at $27 hourly Emergency/Specialty experience preferred Ability to lift 30 pounds. Weekend availability is mandatory - Fixed Saturday or Sunday required Must have Mac/PC skills, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with EzyVet veterinary software is a plus. Excellent oral and written English communication skills are required.
