Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team within a telemetry and med/surg unit. This position will predominantly operate on a night shift schedule, providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions. The role requires exceptional clinical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to quality patient care.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Yes, 1-2 winter holidays

Unit Information

The position will primarily be within the telemetry and med/surg unit, with a total of six specialized units. The responsibilities may involve floating to various units based on staffing needs.

• 7th Floor: Surgical unit, abdominal surgeries, trauma (36 beds)
• 8BC: Long term low acuity unit, patients waiting for placement or on long-term antibiotic therapy (17 beds)
• 9th Floor: General medical cases, chronic and acute (38 beds)
• 2 South: Short stay, cardiac, COVID unit (41 beds)
• 3 South: Neuro unit (33 beds)
• 4 South: Ortho and spine unit (21 beds)

Additionally, the role may involve assignments in alternate med/surg units as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care following established protocols and standards.
• Assist in the management of patient care for a range of conditions, including cardiac and surgical patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including titration of IV drips.
• Monitor patient conditions, assessing vital signs and reporting changes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and support activities.
• Float to various units as necessary, based on departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience required.
• Certifications: Current BLS certification required.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting patient care needs.
• Capable of handling electronic medical records and documentation efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Additional Information

• CNA assignments may be required if there is a nursing shortage.
• Entrance screener duties may be assigned as necessary.
• RNs are required to take scheduled breaks while on duty.
• Orientation will be provided for various units; however, travel to alternate units will not include additional orientation.
