Job Overview The Pastry Cook at Safta’s Table is responsible for preparing pastries, breads, desserts, and other baked goods that reflect the comforting and soulful flavors of Safta and Saba in a relaxed, all-day café setting. This role plays a key part in daily pastry production, maintaining product quality and consistency, and ensuring all items are prepared according to established recipes and presentation standards. The Pastry Cook works closely with the kitchen team to support smooth, efficient operations throughout the day. Key Responsibilities Prepare pastries, breads, desserts, fillings, sauces, and other baked goods according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines Accurately measure, mix, shape, bake, assemble, and finish pastry items Complete daily pastry prep and production according to established timelines and business needs Ensure all products meet standards for taste, appearance, freshness, and consistency Properly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and prepared products Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry station at all times Follow all kitchen protocols, food safety standards, allergen procedures, and sanitation requirements Safely and properly operate ovens, mixers, food processors, and other pastry equipment Receive and store deliveries, ensuring product quality and proper stock rotation Communicate effectively with leadership about inventory needs, production levels, and challenges Minimize waste by following recipes, portion standards, and proper storage procedures Work collaboratively with fellow cooks and kitchen staff to maintain a positive and efficient work environment Support the overall goals of the kitchen team by jumping in where needed Provide all other duties, as assigned Qualifications 1+ year of pastry, baking, or professional kitchen experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate Passion for pastry, food, hospitality, and continuous learning Basic understanding of baking techniques, pastry equipment, and food safety standards Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management Strong work ethic and ability to take direction Dependable, punctual, and a strong team player Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency Ability to maintain composure and positivity during high-volume production and service Joining the Safta’s Table team means becoming part of a family that is passionate about food, culture, and creating memorable experiences for our guests.
