JOB SUMMARY : Corporate Director of Memory Care

The Corporate Director of Memory Care supports the implementation and advancement of The Bristal's memory care philosophy, standards, programs, and resident experience initiatives across Reflections neighborhoods. Reporting to the Vice President of Memory Care & Cognitive Wellness, this role provides leadership, coaching, education, and operational support to Directors of Reflections, Executive Directors, and community teams to promote person-centered practices, resident engagement, family support, neighborhood excellence, and consistent execution of company standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

 

Memory Care Standards, Quality & Compliance

 

• Support implementation and reinforcement of company-wide memory care philosophy, standards, tools, and initiatives established by the Vice President of Memory Care & Cognitive Wellness and senior leadership.
• Support Directors of Reflections and community leaders in maintaining Reflections neighborhoods that are safe, secure, dignified, and aligned with company expectations, including environmental safety, secured-neighborhood practices, elopement-risk awareness, wayfinding, sensory supports, cleanliness, and overall neighborhood readiness.
• Participate in Standards of Excellence reviews, site visits, audits, and other quality review processes as requested.
• Identify trends, strengths, opportunities, and areas of concern through community visits, observations, performance indicators, resident and family feedback, and leadership collaboration.
• Assist communities and regional leaders with the development, implementation, and follow-up of Reflections-focused action plans.
• Monitor quality indicators, Standards of Excellence findings, resident and family feedback, engagement measures, and other operational metrics to identify trends and provide recommendations to the Vice President of Memory Care & Cognitive Wellness.

 

 

 

Director of Reflections Leadership & Community Support

 

• Provide functional leadership, mentorship, coaching, and development support to Directors of Reflections.
• Support onboarding, orientation, professional development, peer networking, and succession planning for new and existing Directors of Reflections.
• Conduct community site visits, virtual check-ins, workshops, DOR Roundtables, and other forums to reinforce company standards and best practices.
• Support recruitment efforts through participation in Director of Reflections interviews as requested.
• Assist in identifying and developing future Directors of Reflections, memory care subject matter experts, and emerging leaders.
• Serve as a resource to Directors of Reflections regarding resident support strategies, family concerns, team development, and neighborhood operations.

 

Resident Experience, Programming & Engagement

 

• Support Directors of Reflections and community teams in implementing individualized, non-pharmacological approaches for residents living with dementia or cognitive change.
• Reinforce person-centered practices including Validation Method principles, empathy-based communication, DICE-informed discovery, environmental support strategies, and meaningful engagement approaches.
• Support implementation of purposeful, holistic, and life skill-based programming standards within Reflections neighborhoods.
• Partner with Directors of Reflections, Lifestyle Directors, Directors of Inspirations, and community teams to strengthen individualized engagement, parallel programming, and meaningful daily routines.
• Support approved engagement initiatives and assist communities in adapting programming to meet varying cognitive, emotional, physical, and sensory needs.
• Encourage active participation of care team members in resident engagement through education, coaching, observation, and accountability practices.
• Participate in resident support discussions, interdisciplinary reviews, transition planning, and family education needs as requested.

 

Family Support, Education & Training

 

• Support Directors of Reflections in building trusted and proactive relationships with residents’ families and responsible parties.
• Provide guidance regarding family education, support resources, transition conversations, and communication during periods of resident change or family concern.
• Support community and regional leaders with resident and family concerns and elevate complex or high-risk situations through appropriate leadership channels.
• Assist in the development and delivery of memory care education, onboarding resources, workshops, leadership development initiatives, and team member training under the direction of the Vice President of Memory Care & Cognitive Wellness.

 

Cross-Functional Partnership & Administration

 

• Partner with operational, healthcare, wellness, case management, lifestyle, and community leaders to support consistent Reflections operations and resident outcomes.
• Maintain strong collaboration with clinical partners while preserving the primary focus of this role on resident experience, engagement, coaching, and family support.
• Contribute memory care expertise to community openings, leadership transitions, program rollouts, and targeted support initiatives.
• Represent The Bristal’s memory care programs and standards at assigned community, regional, and professional events; comfortable speaking or presenting in front of groups.
• Maintain compliance with required training and company policies.
• Complete reports, expenses, travel documentation, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
• Remain current on developments in dementia care, resident engagement, family support, and evidence-based practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Memory Care & Cognitive Wellness.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS :

 

• Bachelor's degree required; degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Human Services, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in memory care, dementia care, senior living, resident experience, healthcare operations, or a related field; multi-site leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, person-centered practices, resident engagement, behavioral expression support, family support, and team member development.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing leaders and frontline team members.
• Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn company-specific systems and platforms.
• Memory care, dementia care, Validation Method, essential, or related certifications preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• This role supports communities throughout New York and New Jersey; however, a consistent and significant onsite presence in the company’s Long Island communities is a primary requirement. The position requires onsite community work at least four days per week, with most onsite time expected to be spent across Long Island locations based on operational needs. Travel to other communities, meetings, and corporate events is also required.
• Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to support operational, training, or community needs.
