Associate Attorney Role- must be admitted in NY – NJ a plus

Barry McTiernan & Moore’s Manhattan office is currently seeking an experienced Attorney to join our General Litigation group. The ideal candidate will be admitted in NY and practicing for a minimum of 1 to 4 years in the areas of premise liability defense and property claims. Must possess experience in all phases of pre-trial litigation as well as strong organization, writing and analytical skills. We value collaboration and diversity among our team members and seek to make the practice of law a rewarding experience. Trial experience is not required but a plus.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation.
\n
• Meticulous compliance with firm and client billing and reporting guidelines.
\n
• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences
\n
• Conduct complex legal research and discovery.
\n
• Draft discovery demands and responses, motions, case evaluations summaries, settlement agreements, pleadings, and legal memoranda and other case handling materials in response to client guidelines.

Experience and Qualifications

\n
• 3-5 years admitted and practicing as an Attorney in NY in a defense firm.
\n
• Labor law is a plus but not required. Admission in NJ is a plus but not required.
\n
• Superior court knowledge and experience arguing cases.
\n
• Superior case management and client advocacy skills.
\n
• Experience drafting briefs and pleadings.
\n
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
\n
• Experience taking and defending depositions.
\n
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills, time management and adherence to strict deadlines.
\n
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and driven with a commitment to excellence.
\n
• Proficient in Westlaw and/or Lexis.
\n

The salary range posted for this position requires a minimum of three years admitted and practicing in a insurance defense litigation firm. We consider all direct transferable skills when making a offer within the posted range.
