OverviewThe Project Controller leads all financial administration and fiscal management aspects of a mega project, or multiple large/mid-size projects while ensuring all team members are following Gilbane financial policies and procedures and communicating any potential profitability or risks to leadership.Who are we? ResponsibilitiesTrains and supports project teams in all project accounting proceduresSupervises and trains direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks; manages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standardsEnsures accuracy and completion of project forecastAssists in the financial closing process including development of risk and opportunity analysisWorks and acts as an Independent Accountant during project forecast meetings to mitigate financial riskEvaluate change management for inconsistencies and risk impacts on projectsMonitors key indicators for managing and analyzing risk projects while keeping Accounting Manager and/or Business Controller informed on any noted concernsAssists the Accounting Manager or Business Controller with monthly Work in Process (WIP)Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team membersAids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reportsKEY COMPETENCIESLeverage Business Insights – Understand and act on industry trends, local market and economic conditions and our business model to make decisions and create competitive advantage. QualificationsEXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field8–10 years of post-graduation experience in construction project accounting is required Or equivalent combination of education and experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and WordExperience utilizing Oracle Textura payment management software or equivalent is preferredAbility to learn construction management and payment management softwareKnowledge of the overall project execution process including budgeting, project forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost, and project profitabilityKnowledge of construction industry insurance products and construction pricing componentsAbility to communicate effectively, listens to understand, and can clearly convey information in all forms based on the audience to ensure shared meaning of the messageActs inclusively by ensuring that actions and behaviors are respectful, shows empathy and treats others with dignity; leverages capabilities and insights of individuals with diverse perspectives, abilities, and motivationAbility to solve problems by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing alternatives for a solutionDemonstrates agility and adaptability by maintaining effectiveness and adjusting to change by exploring the rationale, trying new approaches, and collaborating with others to make the change successfulAbility to show passion and commitment while delivering on business outcomes; ability to create a sense of individual ownership and accountabilityAbility to identify opportunities for new and improved ways of doing things that result in value added, unique and differentiated solutionsADDITIONALSalary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
