City Maintenance Director

Department: City Maintenance (Streets and Grounds) Reports To: City Administrator Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; nights, weekends, and emergencies as needed Pay: $20/hr. $1/hr. performance raises at three, and six months. Annual performance raises after. The City may offer a $3,000 sign-on bonus for applicants currently living in the 63353 ZIP Code or a $3,000 relocation stipend for applicants relocating to the 63353 ZIP Code. Position Summary The City of Louisiana is accepting applications for the position of City Maintenance Director, a full-time working supervisory role responsible for overseeing daily maintenance of the cities streets, and grounds, assigning staff, managing equipment use, tracking projects, and assisting with hands‑on work involving streets, alleys, sidewalks, drainage, parks, public grounds, snow removal, vegetation control, equipment maintenance, and other City infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be dependable, organized, safety‑minded, and able to lead employees while prioritizing work based on public safety, urgency, staffing, equipment, weather, and City priorities. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily work of City Maintenance Department employees. Assign, prioritize, and track work orders, service requests, resident concerns, and maintenance projects. Oversee maintenance and repair of City streets, alleys, sidewalks, shoulders, curbs, drainage systems, ditches, parks, public grounds, signs, and other public infrastructure. Assist with hands‑on field work, including pothole patching, cold‑mix repairs, gravel placement, alley grading, storm cleanup, vegetation control, mowing, trimming, snow and ice removal, and minor facility repairs. Coordinate maintenance of City parks, playgrounds, bathrooms, fencing, benches, gates, signs, landscaping, and public grounds. Operate and maintain City vehicles, equipment, tools, and small machinery. Maintain an equipment maintenance list and coordinate needed repairs, service, towing, oil, parts, and supplies. Track completed work, materials used, unresolved issues, and follow‑up items. Conduct or assist with employee evaluations, training, safety reminders, and daily supervision. Ensure employees follow safety procedures, use equipment properly, and complete work in a professional manner. Communicate regularly with City administration regarding department needs, project status, staffing issues, equipment concerns, and public complaints. Work with other City departments when projects involve utilities, parks, public buildings, City Hall, emergency services, or special events. Perform other related duties as assigned.
