About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Legal and Compliance Officer to play a pivotal role in the development and execution of legal and regulatory strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multi-state licensing initiatives, overseeing product and rate filings, and fostering relationships with state insurance departments to ensure the approval of new and existing products. This executive will also be a key partner to the executive team, involved in negotiating commercial agreements, managing vendor relationships, and building a robust compliance program. Governance responsibilities, including serving as a corporate secretary and managing disputes and regulatory inquiries, are also a critical part of the role. Applicants for the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer position at the company must have a Juris Doctor with active bar admission in good standing, and a proven track record in life insurance regulation and compliance, particularly with multi-state carriers. The role requires extensive experience in leading state licensing and product filings, as well as a strong background in negotiating complex commercial agreements. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of building and managing compliance programs in regulated insurance environments and experience in engaging with state insurance departments, especially in California. An entrepreneurial mindset, the ability to operate in fast-paced, strategic environments, and a solutions-oriented approach to legal and regulatory challenges are essential for this position.
