On-Site Systems Administrator
Network Services Group, Inc.
Job Description
Job Description
About the Job:
As an On-Site System Administrator , you will be the in-person extension of our helpdesk team and one of the most visible members of NSG to our clients.
You will spend most of your day visiting client locations and working directly with the people who rely on their technology to do their jobs. Some visits will involve troubleshooting an immediate problem. Others may include installing a smaller technology solution, assisting with a larger project, or helping our remote team resolve an issue that requires someone onsite.
This is a full-time, field-based position with regular working hours of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Your days will have structure, but they will rarely look exactly the same.
One morning, you may be helping a client whose technology has brought part of their business to a stop. That afternoon, you may be installing equipment, assisting another technician, or investigating a problem that cannot be solved remotely.
You will need to be comfortable moving between client environments, adjusting as priorities change, and taking ownership of the situation in front of you.
The Person We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, naturally helpful, and comfortable working with people.
You do not need to know the answer to every problem immediately. You do need to be curious, resourceful, and willing to work through a problem until you understand it. You know when to keep troubleshooting independently and when bringing in a teammate will lead to a better result.
You are the kind of person who can walk into a client’s office, introduce yourself confidently, listen carefully, and make people feel at ease—even when they are frustrated.
You communicate clearly without overwhelming people with technical language. You explain what is happening, set reasonable expectations, and make sure clients feel informed throughout the visit.
You are also someone your teammates can depend on. You share useful information, ask thoughtful questions, communicate when plans change, and understand that the best solutions often come from working together.
You’ll Probably Enjoy This Role If You:
- Like solving technical problems that require hands-on investigation.
- Enjoy meeting and helping different people throughout the day.
- Are comfortable working independently without feeling disconnected from a team.
- Can stay calm and professional when a client is stressed or frustrated.
- Take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to tell you every next step.
- Communicate well with both technical and nontechnical people.
- Enjoy variety and do not want to sit at the same desk every day.
- Can adjust your plan when priorities or client needs change.
- Care about leaving people and environments better than you found them.
- Believe that reliability and attitude are just as important as technical knowledge.
What You’ll Do:
Your work will center on providing responsive, professional onsite technology support to NSG clients.
You will:
- Visit client locations to investigate and resolve technology problems.
- Work directly with employees, managers, and business owners who need assistance.
- Troubleshoot issues that cannot be fully resolved by the remote helpdesk.
- Support computers, network equipment, business systems, and other workplace technology.
- Install smaller network and technology solutions.
- Assist NSG technicians and project teams with larger installations.
- Coordinate with the helpdesk and other team members to find the best solution.
- Keep clients informed about what you are working on and what happens next.
- Recognize additional client needs and help connect them with the right NSG resource.
- Capture enough information about your work that teammates can understand what was discovered, completed, and recommended.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this position is not just about the number of technical issues you close.
It means clients are glad to see you arrive because they trust that you will listen, communicate, and help move things forward.
It means you can work independently in the field while remaining connected to the rest of the NSG team.
It means you approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity instead of frustration, represent NSG professionally, and leave clients feeling supported—even when the final solution requires additional work.
At the end of a successful day, clients know what was accomplished, your teammates have the information they need, and you can feel good about the way you handled both the technology and the people involved.
Experience We’d Love to See:
Previous experience in one or more of the following areas would be helpful:
- Onsite or field-based IT support
- Managed IT services
- Helpdesk or desktop support
- Systems or network administration
- Computer and network installations
- Technical consulting
- Client-facing customer service
More important than having experience with every possible technology is having a solid technical foundation, strong troubleshooting instincts, and the willingness to continue learning.
This Role May Not Be the Right Fit If:
- You prefer working remotely or remaining at one location every day.
- You dislike interacting directly with clients.
- You become easily frustrated when the answer is not immediately obvious.
- You have difficulty adjusting when schedules or priorities change.
- You prefer to work completely alone rather than collaborate with a team.
- You enjoy the technical side of IT but are not interested in the service and communication side.
Benefits:
- Medical Insurance
- Company Vehicle
- 401K - Matching
- Unlimited Vacation and Sick Time
- Vacation Bonus
- Gym Membership
- Working with a team that cares
- We like to eat! Catered meals.
- A team that truly cares about one another!
How to Apply:
We get a lot of applications, so make yours stand out. Send us:
• Your resume
• A cover letter that tells your story
• Anything else that shows us why you’re the right fit
We want to see who you really are, not just where you’ve worked. Tell us something memorable. And don’t forget to include your favorite pizza toppings.
