Technical WriterDescription Location: Hybrid (3 days/week in Reston, VA) Clearance: Active Top Secret (eligible for SCI with CI Poly) Employment Type: Full-time Salary: $70,000/yr.–$90,000/yr.We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Technical Writer to support a large Intelligence Community environment. This role focuses on translating complex technical and operational concepts into clear, structured, and compliant documentation for proposals, programs, and communications. The ideal candidate combines strong writing expertise with the ability to structure, format, and visually present information in alignment with government RFP requirements. This role requires close collaboration with proposal teams, program managers, and technical SMEs to ensure high-quality, accurate, and compelling deliverables.ResponsibilitiesTechnical Documentation & Communication: Develop, edit, and maintain technical documents that clearly communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders within the Intelligence Community.Proposal Support: Collaborate with proposal and program teams to develop, format, and refine proposal content while ensuring compliance with RFP requirements.Editing & Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous editing, proofreading, and peer reviews to ensure clarity, consistency, and error-free documentation.Content Structuring & Formatting: Design and format documents, integrating text and visuals into cohesive, professional deliverables aligned with client standards.Visualization Development: Create diagrams and visual aids (e.g., workflows, architectures) to enhance technical understanding.Template & Style Management: Develop and maintain templates, style guides, and standardized formats for proposals and technical materials.Process Support: Assist in documenting and improving internal proposal and documentation processes.Repository Management: Maintain awareness of prior proposal materials and support the organization and reuse of approved content.RequirementsMinimum QualificationsExperience: 2+ years of experience in technical writing, proposal development, or related fieldClearance: Active TS clearance (eligible for SCI with CI Poly)Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Graphic Design, Marketing, or related fieldWriting Expertise: Expert-level proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and syntaxTools & Technologies: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Adobe Acrobat / Acrobat Pro, and Visio or similar toolsDocumentation Skills: Strong ability to structure and format technical content and integrate visuals effectivelyRFP Knowledge: Understanding of government RFPs and source selection processesWork Style: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and adaptability in fast-paced environmentsLocation Requirement: Able to commute to Reston, VA, 3 days/weekPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting DoW or Intelligence Community clientsExperience in proposal development and desktop publishing in the federal spaceFamiliarity with Adobe IllustratorMicrosoft Office Specialist: Word Expert CertificationBenefitsSalary $70,000–$90,000 based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision (UnitedHealthcare; strong employer contribution)HSA (tax-advantaged healthcare savings)Employer-paid life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability401(k) with up to 4% match (immediate vesting after eligibility)Optional supplemental insurance plansBenefits eligible shortly after hireCultureOur client operates on a foundation of clear thinking, strong character, and disciplined execution, driving consistent outcomes with speed and agility in complex environments.
