We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join a service-focused organization in California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who communicates confidently, approaches sensitive payment conversations with professionalism, and can help customers work through overdue account situations. The person in this role will support collection efforts by handling customer interactions, reviewing account status, and helping identify practical paths toward resolution.

Responsibilities:
• Engage with customers by phone to review overdue balances and guide conversations toward workable payment arrangements
• Handle incoming calls related to past-due accounts while maintaining accurate and thorough account documentation
• Assess payment challenges by asking thoughtful questions and identifying factors affecting a customer’s ability to pay
• Present resolution options that support delinquency management and help reduce potential account loss
• Apply strong negotiation techniques to encourage timely repayment and mutually acceptable outcomes
• Update account records with clear notes, payment discussions, and follow-up actions taken
• Coordinate with leadership on additional collection-related assignments and day-to-day support tasks• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively in payment-related conversations
• Prior experience in collections, account recovery, or a similar customer-facing financial role is preferred
• Comfortable handling a high volume of inbound and outbound phone communication
• Ability to document customer interactions accurately and maintain organized account records
• Strong verbal communication skills with a detail-oriented and solution-oriented approach
• Experience with consumer or commercial collections is helpful
• Bilingual English and Spanish language skills are a plus
