Staff AccountantLocation: Germantown, WIEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our finance team in Germantown, WI. This role is responsible for supporting general accounting functions, maintaining the general ledger, ensuring compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements, and providing financial analysis to support business decision-making. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong accounting fundamentals, and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and maintain accurate general ledger account reconciliations.Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.Record journal entries and ensure transactions are properly documented and coded.Support financial reporting activities and management reporting requirements.Assist in maintaining and monitoring compliance with SOX controls and internal control procedures.Participate in internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, corporate, or public accounting environment.Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Experience maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal controls.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong written and verbal communication abilities.Preferred QualificationsExperience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.Experience supporting financial audits and compliance initiatives.Knowledge of financial analytics, reporting tools, and dashboard development.CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA designation is a plus.Experience in a publicly traded company environment.Skills & CompetenciesGeneral Ledger AccountingFinancial Analysis & ReportingSOX Compliance & Internal ControlsAccount ReconciliationsVariance AnalysisBudgeting & ForecastingAudit SupportMicrosoft Excel & Financial SystemsAttention to DetailProcess ImprovementWhat We OfferCompetitive salaryComprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysProfessional development and career growth opportunitiesCollaborative and team-oriented work environmentJob Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Germantown, WI.Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Vacation - 2-3 weeks Optek is on their own benefits but they will be changing to crane's benefits.Workplace Type: This is a fully onsite position in Germantown, WI.Application Deadline: This position is anticipated to close on Sep 9, 2026.
