What You'll Do:

• Provide emergency medical care at regional hospitals in the Northwoods of Wisconsin
• Manage patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans
• Collaborate with APCs and support staff in a mostly single coverage setting
• Handle a patient admission rate of approximately 20%
• Provide coverage across various shifts, with some overlap and flexibility
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and medical standards
• Participate in disaster and emergency preparedness protocols when necessary

What You Need:

• Medical license to practice in Wisconsin
• Valid DEA license
• Board Certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine
• Good standing with NPDB/File clearance
• Ability to work independently in a rural hospital setting
• Physical and mental endurance for shift work
• A passion for outdoor activities and rural healthcare

About the Assignment:

This position involves coverage at Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital, a regional hospital nestled in the scenic Northwoods of Wisconsin. The facility offers a welcoming environment for physicians who enjoy outdoor recreation such as hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and fishing. The hospital provides a supportive team structure with predominantly single coverage shifts and some overlap, ensuring a manageable workload. Local providers are preferred to minimize travel issues during winter months, and orientation is compensated at $150/hour.
