Payroll Processor

This position is responsible for processing the weekly payroll cycle for all company payrolls and other payroll tasks as required.

Essential duties include:

• Preparing the production of payrolls, including deductions for withholding tax, social security, health insurance, life insurance, and other required salary deductions.
• Assisting with federal and state tax reporting requirements; including quarterly payroll reports, annual earnings (W-2's), withholding tax, and other required reporting.
• Reviewing all payroll groups to ensure accuracy and correcting any errors before processing payroll.
• Entering and maintaining a variety of employee payroll deductions using manual and automated systems.
• Overseeing all mandatory wage garnishments for employees.
• Responding to inquiries concerning wage garnishments and earnings verifications.
• Distributing payroll checks.
• Assisting with payroll tax reconciliations.
• Responsible for the execution of printing payroll checks.
• Filing employee payroll deductions, benefits information, and periodic reports.
• Setting calendar for district payrolls including pay dates and processing schedules.
• Calculating changes in contract amounts and payouts for accrued sick and vacation leave.
• Ensuring compliance with all union contracts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements include:

Physical and mental:

Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to work long hours. Ability to make decisions, formulate and communicate ideas, read and understand spreadsheets. Must have an excellent math aptitude. Experience with Ultimate Software payroll system preferred. Strong Excel skills preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office applications a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs.

Work/Educational Experience:

• Must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school or equivalent diploma and have the ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the New York State Lottery regulations.
• Associate's Degree in related field.
• One (1) year related payroll experience.

Salary range: $24.00 – $27.00 hourly.
