Registered Nurse (RN)

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care across diverse patient populations in line with organizational standards, policies, and evidence-based practices. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. Collaboration with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams is crucial to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and positive patient experiences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions based on patient responses.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and established protocols.
• Recognize changes in patient conditions, initiating appropriate interventions or escalations of care.
• Provide education and resources to patients and families regarding care and discharge instructions.
• Deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care in high-acuity environments.
• Facilitate collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner within electronic health records.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with safety standards.
• Support and mentor staff, students, and peers through guidance and education.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification is preferred.
• Clinical competency required within three months and every three years thereafter.
• High-Risk Competency validation is required for direct patient care roles and must be assessed at specified intervals.
• Experience in emergency nursing or relevant specialty is an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong understanding of nursing principles, evidence-based practices, medication safety, and infection prevention.
• Excellent clinical judgment, organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in electronic health records and clinical systems.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to lift, move, and assist patients up to 50 pounds.
• Capability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Ability to work in moderate-to-high noise clinical environments.
