Part-Time Faculty Health Information Management Instructor

Job Description Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion. Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member in the Health Information Management program. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. The instructor's primary responsibility will be visiting students weekly at assigned clinical site(s). Instructors should exhibit a high degree of professionalism and a strong commitment to the Health Information Management students. Teaching Hours and Limits During the academic year, part‑time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During the summer, part‑time faculty may teach no more than 10 ESH for both sessions combined. Duties and Responsibilities Deliver planned curriculum, answer questions, and conduct evaluations. Facilitate student learning in online laboratory courses or in lectures. Evaluate skill performance and provide feedback to students in a timely manner to monitor mastery and progress through a course. Utilize Blackboard LMS for student contact, curriculum delivery, and student assignments. Utilize Zoom for live remote course delivery. Follow guidelines from department course coordinators to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections of a course. Meet established deadlines to submit student mid‑term and final course grades. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise. Two years of professional experience in the discipline within the last three years. Must hold current certification, licensure, registration, or equivalent in a health information field. Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational environment and willingness to contribute to the College's strategic plan of inclusion. Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside the work location. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources. Preferred Qualifications Master of Science degree or higher. Prior teaching experience in a Health Information Management program or equivalent teaching and learning coursework. Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical skills in the course content. For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
