Part-time Faculty Art: 2D Design Instructor

Job Description The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently accepting applications for a part‑time faculty position teaching Introduction to 2D Design. The role requires an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Teaching Load Limits During the academic year, part‑time faculty may teach no more than 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer, the limit is 10 ESH for both sessions combined. Duties and Responsibilities Teach courses including Introduction to 2D Design. Teach one or more courses related to 2D Design per semester. Required Qualifications MFA or equivalent degree in Visual Art. Experience teaching college‑level visual arts courses (graduate‑school teaching assistantship or lectureship is acceptable). Active participation in personal creative work. Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment, and willingness to contribute to the college’s strategic plan of inclusion. Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside the work location; the college provides an e‑mail account and access to the learning platform and faculty communications tools. If you do not have a personal computer, notify the department chair at the time of interview; the college may provide temporary access if funds are available. Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching college‑level 2D Design or equivalent courses. Experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds. Experience supporting underprepared students. Understanding and commitment to the community‑college mission. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices that promote community and model principles of belonging and inclusive pedagogies. Employment Requirements Employees must reside in Maryland or a state where the college has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
