Part-time Faculty Film Instructor

Job Description Montgomery College accepts applications for adjunct/part‑time faculty on a continuous basis. Applications are reviewed periodically based on enrollment needs. A course listed as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment, and hiring decisions are at management’s sole discretion. The Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for a part‑time faculty member teaching Film 200 – Introduction to Film Studies as a seminar/lecture course for the Fall 2026 semester. The role requires an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who demonstrates professionalism, commitment to student success, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Responsibilities Teach courses in Film and Media. Maintain classroom and follow safety guidelines. Monitor and utilize Blackboard. Keep track of student attendance and grades. Communicate with Department Chair and staff regarding instructional needs. Qualifications Master’s degree in Film or related media field. Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment, and willingness to contribute to the college’s strategic plan of inclusion. Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location. Legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Previous teaching experience (instructor of record) at the post‑secondary level. Experience with a broad array of film and media history and their applications. Familiarity with digital fabrication processes. Interdisciplinary experience. Knowledge of non‑Western media. Application Requirements CV including dates of employment, list of previous courses taught, and designations as instructor of record or teaching assistant. 1–2 page cover letter and unofficial copy of transcripts from highest degree earned addressing instruction of an introduction to film studies. (Optional) Link to personal portfolio of at least five works demonstrating ability to teach Film. For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of a nationally recognized educational equivalency must be included in the application.
