Day Service Supervisor

Company Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc. Position Title Day Service Supervisor Location Harlem, NY Reports To Program Manager General Purpose Provide direct supervision to Habilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals in Community Prevocational and Day Habilitation Services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Coordinate and ensure service delivery for a case load of up to 30 individuals with I/DD. Oversee Habilitation Specialists implementing Person‑Centered Practices throughout the program. Engage each individual in a Person‑Centered Planning process to identify goals and implement services and activities that support highest independence while ensuring quality services. Split time between on‑site guidance, leadership, and administrative duties as required. Essential Functions Complete required documentation (including Life Plans, Monthly Case Notes, Person Centered Plans, Prevocational Assessments, DDP1’s, Incident Reports, and other required documentation) to funding source and oversight agency standards within specified timeframes. Ensure individuals on caseload and in program meet monthly attendance goals. Prepare monthly attendance report for Program Manager. Engage each individual in Person Centered Planning, using their Person Centered Plan and feedback to develop Staff Action Plans, Employment Plan, Goals, Staff Supports and Services. Create group and individual monthly schedule. Incorporate each individual's goals, interests, needs and skills. Supervisor must ensure schedule development if Senior Technician is not assigned. Solicit feedback, observations, insights, and recommendations from the individual, Rehabilitation Technicians, and Job Developer regularly on progress and necessary changes to schedules and Staff Action Plan or Employment Plan. Ensure Person Centered Planning and Practices are carried out with Habilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals for all program participants. Submit and balance Petty Cash reports, track Metro Card distribution and reconciliation, submit monthly transportation reimbursements, and conduct monthly fire drills at offsite locations. Supervisor must fulfill this if Senior Technician is not assigned. Visit hub sites and volunteer or internship sites to supervise activities, evaluate progress, and monitor quality of services and interactions between Rehabilitation Technicians and individuals. Ensure Rehabilitation Technicians provide daily services as written in the individual’s Habilitation Plan and accurately record time, attendance, and services provided daily. Modify communication to ensure understanding and respect when interacting with individuals, including tone of voice and verbal and nonverbal techniques to meet communication needs. Exercise good judgment and discretion in all communications and decisions that impact individuals, the group, or crisis situations. Demonstrate professional qualities: punctuality, reliability, adaptability, good communication skills, and pleasantness. For Prevocational Services, develop and support the individual’s skills to meet workplace productivity expectations. Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, other colleagues, individuals, parents, caretakers, support teams, and internship or volunteer sites. Recruit appropriate individuals into program through outreach to schools, transition coordinators, MSCs, etc., to maintain appropriate client numbers. Liaise and troubleshoot with Transportation Company. Participate in annual Life Plan meetings. Provide oversight, guidance and discipline for rehabilitation technicians. Responsible for hiring and disciplinary actions when needed. Work directly with QA department to ensure adherence to maintaining audit‑ready charts. Responsible for uploading and working with CHOICES & IRMA. Responsible for ADP T&A supervision. Responsible for submitting requisitions in D35, new line combining all ADMIN assignments. Responsible for overall site operations and safety. Other duties as needed or required. Qualifications / Basic Job Requirements Education: Bachelor degree from an accredited school in a related field preferred or equivalent work experience. Experience: One year of work experience in mental health, vocational rehabilitation, or case management preferred. Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize demands; facility with written communication; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; flexible and open to new ideas; solution oriented; avoids assumptions about individuals’ abilities and motivation; maintains confidentiality with discretion and judgment. Scope of Responsibility & Positions Supervised Supervise Rehabilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals’ implementation of schedules and services; provide support and training on positive interaction with individuals; meet weekly with Rehabilitation Technicians and peers to discuss goals and coordinate schedules. Address performance issues with Rehabilitation Technicians, create Performance Improvement Plans when necessary. Responsible for staff development of Rehabilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals. Maintain fiscal stability in the program and units of service. Special Working Conditions Frequent travel and field work within the boroughs. Attendance at individual meetings that may occur in evenings and/or at off‑site locations. Onsite required.
