Welder/Fabricator (1st Shift)

Location: Archdale, NC 27263 Pay rate: $20.00 - $24.00/hr Work schedule: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Candidates must be available for required overtime on Fridays as needed.

Overview

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for performing welding, precision fabrication, and component repair work to support active manufacturing operations. Working in accordance with strict engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety guidelines, this role involves interpreting structural drawings, aligning parts, and executing sound welds. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in both MIG and TIG methodologies and possesses the mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot production defects under structural supervision.

Job Specifications

Key Responsibilities

• Welding Execution: Repair metals and alternative weldable materials by applying appropriate technical welding practices. Perform specialized groove and fillet welds across pipe and plate configurations (Positions 1-5G and 1-3F).
• Blueprint Interpretation: Review and interpret blueprints, structural specifications, engineering diagrams, and mechanical schematics to determine the correct welding paths and setup requirements.
• Defect Inspection & Repair: Inspect completed welds to determine absolute structural soundness. Proactively identify welding defects—including porosity, inclusions, undercuts, penetration issues, pinholes, cavities, and blow-through—and execute proper structural repairs.
• Component Fabrication: Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, specialized fixtures, templates, and microscopes.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect individual parts and complex assemblies against company blueprints to guarantee finished products match exact dimensional tolerances and engineering specifications.
• Workplace Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workstation while operating within strict facility safety guidelines.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

• Welding Versatility: Verifiable, hands-on production experience executing both MIG and TIG welding processes.
• Brazing Knowledge: Practical experience with brazing techniques is required.
• Technical Aptitude: Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Operational Attributes: Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, a positive attitude, and a willingness to accept professional coaching and feedback.
• Reliability & Autonomy: Documented reliability with the ability to work safely and efficiently both independently (with supervision) and collaboratively within a team environment.

Education & Experience

• Experience: Practical, hands-on industrial welding and metal fabrication experience is required.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Term: Contract Assignment (Initial duration of a few months; potential opportunity to convert to a permanent position based on performance and business needs).
