Job Description:

\n

Addison Group is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join a law firm in Chicago. This individual will provide administrative and legal support to a team of 4–5 attorneys, assisting with document preparation, court filings, case management, and client communications.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of legal assistant or paralegal experience, a strong background in litigation, and experience working with eDiscovery software. This position requires someone who is proactive, tech-savvy, adaptable, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Provide comprehensive legal and administrative assistance to a team of attorneys handling litigation and other legal matters.
\n
• Draft, format, proofread, and revise legal correspondence, pleadings, court documents, and related materials.
\n
• Organize and maintain electronic case files, legal records, and supporting documentation within internal databases.
\n
• Assist with electronic court filings and ensure submissions comply with applicable court procedures and deadlines.
\n
• Track important litigation dates, filing requirements, and case-related deadlines to support timely submissions.
\n
• Maintain and update legal calendars, including real estate tax appeal deadlines and other regulatory filing dates.
\n
• Coordinate the opening of new client matters, including preparing intake documentation and initiating conflict checks.
\n
• Communicate with clients to request financial statements, records, and other documentation necessary for legal proceedings.
\n
• Follow up with clients to ensure required materials are received, reviewed, and organized ahead of filing deadlines.
\n
• Prepare client invoices, case updates, and correspondence based on attorney instructions.
\n
• Collaborate with the billing department to verify invoice accuracy and resolve billing questions.
\n
• Utilize eDiscovery platforms and legal software to assist with document organization, review, and case preparation.
\n
• Manage shifting workloads and prioritize assignments based on attorney needs, case urgency, and upcoming deadlines.
\n
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information and legal documentation.
\n
• Provide additional administrative and litigation support as needed to ensure efficient daily operations.

Qualifications:

\n

Required:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
\n
• 3–5 years of experience working as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant in a law firm or similar legal environment.
\n
• Prior litigation experience, including involvement in court-related processes, legal documentation, and case preparation.
\n
• Experience working with eDiscovery software and electronic legal records.
\n
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer applications.
\n
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
\n
• Ability to work effectively with multiple attorneys who have varying work styles and expectations.
\n
• Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable learning new systems and legal processes.
\n
• Ability and willingness to work onsite five days per week.
\n

Preferred:

• Experience with electronic court filing systems and court-specific submission portals.
\n
• Familiarity with legal case management platforms such as Perfect AIM or similar systems.
\n
• Exposure to real estate tax appeals, docket management, or related legal processes.
\n
• Previous experience coordinating legal billing, client documentation, and matter management.
\n
