About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring training Must-Have: Labor and delivery experience, including the ability to labor and recover the mother. Experience in receiving and transitioning newborns, including assessment. Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other potential OB emergencies preferred. Advanced skills in fetal monitoring and experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil). Description: The unit consists of 9 LDRP beds, 1 OBED bed, 4 NICU beds, and 1 OR suite. Patient ratios include 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections, and 1:3 for couplet care. Newborns receive 1:1 care until stable, and NICU patients receive 1:3 intermediate care, with 2 NICU nurses required if needed. There are no techs or unit secretaries available on the unit. Common equipment includes central monitoring systems, IV pumps, infant warmers, a tele-med robot for neonatologists, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps. Documentation is done through Meditech and central monitoring systems. Full-time staff are required to work 3 shifts per week, with rotation for weekends and holidays. PRN staff may be utilized to complete staffing needs. Regular staff, if scheduled and not needed on the unit, are expected to float to other areas within the facility. Daily rounding on all patients is a requirement, alongside safety rounding. The specific certifications held include Joint Commission, Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, and Level II NICU. The ideal candidate will have experience in labor and delivery, with supportive seasoned staff available for guidance and preceptorship. The unit is collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and support. This LDRP unit offers a comprehensive experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care.
