Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying their unique psychological and emotional care needs.

• Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions focused on the diverse emotional challenges faced by seniors transitioning through different stages of life.

• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to create and implement individualized care plans that reflect each client’s specific needs and goals.

• Facilitate grief counseling sessions for residents and their families, providing a safe space to process end-of-life issues and emotions surrounding loss.

• Implement cognitive enhancement programs and therapeutics to aid mental agility among older adults, ensuring they remain engaged and socially connected.

• Measure and analyze clients' progress, adjusting treatment plans while utilizing evidence-based interventions rooted in geriatric mental health best practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on elderly clients at a community health clinic, addressing mental health concerns that arise due to aging, loss, and transitions. You will also work with clients facing addiction challenges, allowing you to provide holistic support to those navigating co-occurring issues. Engaging with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds will be essential to adequately address their unique perspectives and support needs.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.

• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification recognized in Washington State.

• At least four years of recent experience specializing in geriatric counseling, demonstrating a strong knowledge base in working with older adults.
