Job Description

Chaplin & Gonet, P.C. , a well-established law firm specializing in consumer, commercial, healthcare, and insurance subrogation collections, is seeking a Full-Time Legal Assistant for its Richmond, Virginia headquarters.

·       Communicate directly with General District throughout Virginia.

·       Communicate professionally with clients and opposing counsel.

·       File court forms through both paper and electronic processes.

·       Locate defendants and assist with obtaining service.

·       Prepare trial documents for attorneys and manage new files in General District.

·       Manage Outlook calendars for attorneys, including hearings and trial dates.

·       Use and maintain updates in collections software; experience with JST Collect Max software is helpful.

·       Perform clerical tasks, including data entry, copying, scanning, and faxing.

·       Maintain compliance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act

·        Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a legal or administrative support role

·        Knowledge: Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and documentation

·        Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software

·        Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills

·        Organization: Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

·        Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in document preparation and data entry. Ability to think of the full picture

·        Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

·        Teamwork: Collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively with attorneys and staff. Willingness to be cross trained

·        Change: Flexible and open to new opportunities and challenges that support our company’s growth

·       Reliable attendance record.

The successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check. This full-time position includes a benefits package. Chaplin & Gonet’s office is located near Willow Lawn in Richmond, Virginia.

Salary Range is $19.00 to $20.19 per hour based on experience.
