THE OPPORTUNITY

Benchmark Construction is looking for a Construction Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive construction estimates and bid proposals. You'll play a key role in developing project pricing, maintaining cost databases, and supporting the estimating process from initial takeoff through bid submission — with the backing of a senior estimating team when you need it. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING

▪ Plan, organize, and control construction estimating activities in a professional, business-like manner

▪ Visit job sites and proposal sites as required to perform estimates and gather as-built cost data

▪ Prepare, coordinate, review, and distribute construction estimates in accordance with company policies, procedures, and work instructions

▪ Prepare bid packages and related supporting documentation

▪ Prepare lists of quantities of field work for estimating project requirements

▪ Re-estimate and issue construction man-hours and material costs as requested by management

▪ Maintain working relationships with subcontractors to ensure strong bid coverage

▪ Attend pre-bid meetings and client meetings as required

▪ Update unit rate, material cost, labor, and construction equipment rate databases to keep them current

▪ Prepare reports and analysis related to estimates as requested by management

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

▪ Minimum 3 years of construction estimating experience

▪ Minimum 8 years of overall construction industry experience

▪ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Sage Estimating (or similar estimating software), Procore and Outlook

▪ Effective verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, management, and individuals outside the company

▪ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment when working independently

▪ Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines

▪ Excellent attention to detail

EDUCATION

▪ BS/BA or an equivalent combination of education and experience
