About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required. License: Compact or Louisiana license required upon submission. Certifications: BLS, ACLS required. Must-Have: Epic experience required. Patient ratio experience of 1:4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Description: Travelers are welcome. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Float requirement may apply on occasion. Weekend coverage required every other weekend. Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, and bone marrow transplant patients. The unit features a positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients. Bedside procedures include central venous catheter placements and bone marrow biopsies. Experience with chemotherapy administration and blood product administration is essential. Skills required include IV management and phlebotomy. Knowledge of isolation precautions and telemetry monitoring is necessary. Interdisciplinary support includes services from IV teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy among others. The focus is on cancer diagnosis and treatment, specifically for hematology and medical oncology patients. Candidates must be prepared for emergencies as assigned by unit management.
