Nurse Practitioner 1

Position Overview We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner I to join the Department of Neurology’s Cerebrovascular and Neuro-Hospitalist Division at Irvine Hospital. The Nurse Practitioner will independently provide advanced nursing care under the supervision of an attending faculty member, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive treatment, education, monitoring, and care coordination for ambulatory and inpatient neurology patients. Responsibilities Continuously manage patients within scope of practice, including chronic stable medical conditions, routine and acute care, and procedures approved by the medical staff. Execute appropriately scoped privileges tailored to the practitioner’s qualifications. Deliver patient care across all Health‑licensed settings and affiliates, ensuring quality and compliance with state statutes. Maintain standards of care for the defined patient population, demonstrating accountability and self‑direction in quality and role development across all All Health locations. Complete necessary credentialing and privilege approval through Medical Staff prior to the first working day. Participate in interdisciplinary evaluation and feedback processes with supervising physicians, collaborating physicians, and the Administrative Manager. Qualifications Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license. Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license. Current, active, unrestricted furnishing license and DEA registration. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). National Board Certification (NP National Board Certification, AGACNP‑BC or ACNPC‑AG). Current BLS and ACLS certification. Minimum 2 years of experience in neurology and at least 2 years in a fast‑paced inpatient setting (preferred). Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships across the UCI Health System, exercise diplomacy, and provide customer‑service‑oriented communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear medical reports and progress notes. Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional privileges prior to hire. Proof of work authorization must be provided.
