Duties

Help

• You will process and certify munitions in accordance with DoD Instruction 4140.62, "Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard".
• You will ensure that all inert munitions are inspected for live rounds, un-fired blanks, and other components necessary for safe handling.
• You will sign certification documents of range residue and Material Potentially Possessing Explosive Hazards (MPPEH) for disposal and recycling.
• You will Independently operate, inspect, and maintain the MCB Hawaii Recycling Center OD 5000 ordnance deformer and maintain employee safety during the deforming process.
• You will perform recycling materials handling and operate motor vehicles to transport recyclable material and supplies.
• You will conduct monthly inventory of all material storage lockers to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to be respirator certified withing 6 months of entry on duty (EOD) date.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• This position must be able to meet all medical requirements for the position.
• You must possess a current valid United States driver's license.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• You will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and audio metric tests will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery or equipment and be respirator certified.
• This position will be dusty, dirty and grease and is frequently exposed to the possibility of major injuries, as well as cuts, scrapes and bruises in close proximity with materials handling equipment.
• You will be required to complete the 40-hour Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste handling Course (ALMC-HA) within 1 year of entry on duty (EOD) date.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift certification handling up to 10,000 lbs. within 6 months of entry on duty (EOD) date.
• You will be required be trained to operate OD-5000 Ordnance Deformer within 6 months of entry on duty (EOD) date.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: performing common tasks including receiving, handling, segregating, storing, stowing, inventorying, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment, or materials including material potentially presenting an explosive hazards in accordance with prescribed regulations; packing, labeling, cushioning, banding, and wrapping HAZMAT and other materials.

Additional information

You will be required to complete the DoD Qualified Recycling Program (QRP)/Ordnance and Explosives Recognition & Safety class, US Army Corps of Engineers, Huntsville, Alabama.

This position requires to sit for long periods while operating material handling equipment, stand on hard surfaces for extended periods, bend, stoop, and work in tiring positions, and may lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance of others.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation, etc.) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

PCS is not authorized.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
