About the Role:
The HR Specialist plays a critical role in supporting core HR functions including benefits administration, leave management, workers' compensation, performance management, and compensation support. This position partners closely with employees, managers, and external vendors to ensure a smooth and compliant HR experience. This is a full-time, on-site position located at our Coon Rapids location and does have occasional travel to other Lexington locations. The salary range for this role is $58,000 - $72,000 annually.
Core responsibilities include:
- Benefits Administration
- Manage employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, 401k, etc.)
- Process enrollments, life events, and HRIS updates
- Reconcile monthly benefit billing and ensure payroll deduction accuracy
- Support and help coordinate annual open enrollment
- Ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and state regulations
- Leave of Absence & Workers' Compensation
- Administer FMLA and other leave programs from start to finish
- Serve as a key resource for employees and managers navigating leave
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims, working closely with leadership and insurance partners
- Track claims and support return-to-work efforts
- Performance & Compensation Support
- Assist with performance review cycles, tracking completion and supporting managers
- Contribute to compensation processes, including benchmarking and pay updates
Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, confidentiality, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
Educational Background and Experience:
- At least 2 years of Human Resources experience, with direct involvement in benefits administration and leave management (FMLA, etc.), is required.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree is required.
- Experience working with HRIS systems and benefits platforms
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.)
- Manufacturing industry experience a plus
- Ability to work onsite in Coon Rapids, MN, with occasional travel is required.
