Role Description The Associate Attorney will handle a variety of real estate and landlord-tenant matters, including drafting pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda, and managing case files from inception through resolution. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, reviewing and interpreting leases and real estate documents, preparing clients and witnesses, and appearing in Housing Court, Civil Court, Supreme Court, and before relevant administrative agencies. The role involves direct client interaction, including advising tenants, shareholders and unit owners, negotiating settlements, and participating in hearings, trials, and conferences. The Associate Attorney will collaborate with partners and colleagues on strategy for complex litigation and transactional matters, and maintain thorough documentation and compliance with court and agency procedures. This is a full-time, on-site position located in New York, NY. Qualifications Strong litigation skills, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and courtroom advocacy in Housing Court, Civil Court, and Supreme Court. Experience or interest in real estate law, landlord-tenant matters, cooperative and condominium law, and administrative agency practice (e.g., DHCR, HPD). Excellent client-facing skills, including interviewing, counseling, and communicating complex legal issues clearly to individuals and groups. Solid analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop effective case strategies and pursue settlements when appropriate. Strong organizational skills, including managing multiple cases, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate, detailed case records. J.D. from an accredited law school and admission (or pending admission) to the New York State Bar.
