Administrative Asst II (Fire Dept)

: Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the incumbent performs varied and highly confidential administrative duties. Types and transcribes reports and documents and independently composes correspondence. Compiles reports requiring moderately complex data gathering and research initiative. Assists in gathering data for budget preparation and in monitoring expenses and reporting variances. Follows up with staff on the status of department projects and compiles status reports. Administratively oversees office wide initiatives such as office moves, meetings, and special gatherings. Maintains department files including those kept within a database application. May supervise lower level administrative support personnel. High school diploma or the equivalent (GED), plus four (4) years of related work experience is required. Must demonstrate a proficiency in using common software packages for word processing (word & excel), spreadsheets, presentation; graphics and some skill in using PC database applications is also required. Previous supervisory or project leadership skills are highly desirable but not required. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy and handle confidential and sensitive matters is essential.
