Fiscal Specialist

Fiscal Specialist – 0080858 Responsibilities Review, audit, and process purchasing documents (requisitions, purchase orders, purchase card logs) to ensure compliance with statutes, university procurement policies, funding sources, and object codes. Verify that disbursement vouchers and payment requests meet all applicable laws, policies, and procedures before submission to the Central Services disbursing office. Administer the college’s purchasing card system: reconcile online ledgers, adjust object codes, confirm monthly central reports, resolve discrepancies, and monitor card usage. Collaborate with vendors, contractors, other departments, and state offices to respond to inquiries, obtain required documents, resolve procurement issues, and distribute purchase orders. Compile and consolidate annual fiscal year‑end reports for central offices and maintain campus inventory records, ensuring proper identification and disposition of equipment. Assume duties of other Business Office personnel during absences, train student assistants, maintain a comprehensive filing system, and perform additional tasks as directed by the Assistant Fiscal Manager and Fiscal Manager. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field with at least one year of progressively responsible experience in accounting or fiscal administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Functional knowledge of accounting principles, federal and state laws, and university financial regulations. Ability to recognize and resolve a wide range of accounting and fiscal problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and procedures. Proficiency in personal computer use, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Willingness to work outside normal scheduled hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, as directed.
