Special Education Teacher – Behavior Support

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students in a Behavior Support Program in the Columbia, SC area . This full-time opportunity is designed for an educator who can provide individualized instruction, promote positive behavior, and help students make meaningful academic and personal progress.

Position Highlights:

• Location: Columbia, SC
• Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday
• Start Date: As soon as possible
• Contract: Through May 2027, or until contract completion
• Caseload: Approximately 5–10 students
• Student Population: Ages 11–14

What You’ll Do:

• Provide specialized instruction based on individual student needs
• Develop lessons and interventions aligned with student IEP goals
• Support students with academic, behavioral, and functional development
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed
• Serve as the Special Education Case Manager for assigned students
• Develop and maintain IEPs and required documentation
• Collaborate with families, school staff, administrators, and related service providers
• Establish a structured, supportive, and positive classroom environment
• Implement strategies that encourage positive behavior and student engagement

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Multi- categorical/Emotional Disabilities (ED)
• Special education or behavior support experience preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with students who have diverse behavioral and learning needs
• Collaborative, patient, and student-centered approach
