Position Type: Part Time, Stipend Job Description: The Youth Activities Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and overseeing district-wide youth athletic and community engagement opportunities that strengthen participation in school-sponsored activities. This supplemental position focuses on building sustainable feeder programs, coordinating open gym opportunities, increasing community involvement, and supporting the long-term success of district athletic programs by creating positive experiences for students and families from early childhood through high school. NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Essential Functions: Youth Athletics & Feeder Program Development • Develop, implement, and oversee district-wide youth sports programs that align with the district's athletic philosophy.
• Establish and maintain feeder programs designed to prepare students for participation in middle school and high school athletic programs.
• Collaborate with varsity and middle school coaches to ensure instructional consistency and program alignment.
• Recruit, organize, and support volunteer coaches and youth program instructors.
Open Gym Coordination • Plan, organize, and supervise district-wide open gym opportunities throughout the school year and summer.
• Coordinate facility scheduling in collaboration with building administrators and athletic directors.
• Ensure appropriate supervision, safety protocols, and equipment management during all activities.
• Promote open gym participation among students and community members.
Community Engagement • Develop initiatives that increase community involvement and participation in district athletic and recreational programs.
• Build relationships with families, local organizations, youth leagues, and community partners.
• Organize community events that promote school spirit, wellness, and district pride.
• Serve as a liaison between the athletic department and the community regarding youth programming.
Program Leadership • Coordinate youth camps, clinics, and special events.
• Monitor participation trends and recommend new programming opportunities based on community needs.
Collaboration • Attend planning meetings related to district athletic initiatives and youth programming.
• Assist with strategic planning to strengthen participation across all district athletic programs.
Qualifications:
• Valid Pupil Activity Permit with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community members.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and summer hours as needed.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of all required background checks.

Located in Cuyahoga County and bordered on the north by the City of Cleveland proper, and on all other sides by the first ring communities of Northeast Ohio. Our District proudly serves approximately 3,500 students in three Kindergarten through Grade 5 schools, one middle school, and one high school. The district also provides an award-winning Preschool program to educate the youngest students in our community at William Foster Elementary. To that end, Garfield Heights High School offers a variety of Advanced Placement courses, including AP English, AP Government, AP American History, Honors Chemistry, Honors Calculus, Honors Physical Science, and more. While the District offers these high-level academic courses, the GHCS also proudly sends more than 225 students on an annual basis to the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center for those individuals deeply interested in learning a skilled profession or hands-on expertise in one of the trades. Middle School students have increasingly greater opportunities to prepare themselves for high school and parents are readily encouraged to be involved. Elementary School students in the GHCS also participate in such valuable literacy programs as LETRs and social/emotional initiatives as the Zones of Regulation. The GHCS places a great deal of emphasis at all levels of education on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) and each school has won awards from the State of Ohio for encouraging and promoting positive behavior. A wide variety of co-curricular offerings are available to students of all ages in the Garfield Heights City Schools as well. Such opportunities include more than 18 varsity sports, the district's show choir, Music Express, Marching Band, Theater, A Capella Choir, National Honor Society, Student Council, Glass Ceiling, Future Engineers, and more. These co-curricular offerings are award-winning on the state, regional and local levels. Students can expect success when they become involved in the various academic, co-curricular, and student leadership organizations in this District.
