The Ethics and Compliance Investigations Team (ECIT) is a high-performing, centralized team within Ethics, Compliance, and Risk Management (ECRM) that conducts and manages Code of Conduct-related investigations and supports broader risk mitigation across the Firm. As a Senior Associate focused on data, time, and expense-related matters, you will play an integral role in conducting and supporting investigations from intake to resolution while analyzing highly sensitive information to identify trends, root causes, compliance risks, and opportunities for process improvement. This role is critical to the Firm’s ability to protect the integrity and proprietary of the Firm’s data, identify and respond to potential misconduct, mitigate financial, operational, and data-related risk losses, strengthen the Firm’s Information Security program, support consistent investigative outcomes, and provide timely, objective insights to business and leadership stakeholders. Through high-quality investigations, data analysis, and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, this role helps strengthen trust, accountability, compliance, and information security across the business. You will regularly collaborate with Information Security, Data Protection, the General Counsel’s Office, Finance, Accounting, Ethics and Compliance, and other Firm stakeholders to assess risk, support appropriate investigative outcomes, and recommend mitigation strategies. Success in this role requires strong investigative judgment, data analysis capabilities, risk assessment skills, understanding of our business and key stakeholders, and a keen eye for detail. You will: Conduct and support Code of Conduct-related investigations from intake to resolution involving data, time and expense, cross-border, and other sensitive business matters. Investigate suspected unauthorized data exportation or misuse of Firm, client, confidential, proprietary, or regulated information. Interpret and apply Firm policies, including Code of Conduct, business processes, and compliance obligations when assessing investigative matters. Lead and support investigative interviews, applying sound judgment, professionalism, and confidentiality when engaging with investigation participants. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including ECRM, General Counsel’s Office, Talent, Finance, and business leadership to support risk assessment and resolution. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough case records in a centralized case management system to support reporting, governance, quality control, and audit-ready documentation. Draft clear, concise, and objective investigative documentation, including factual summaries, findings, risk considerations, and recommended next steps. Analyze highly sensitive data, transactional information, and investigative facts to inform investigative steps, factual conclusions, trend identification, and root cause analysis. Evaluate investigative findings and related data to identify compliance, operational, financial, reputational, and control risks, escalating as appropriate to key stakeholders. Develop recommendations for training, communications, process improvements, controls, and other mitigation actions to reduce recurrence and strengthen compliance outcomes. Support intake analysis and matter triage to assess allegations, determine appropriate disposition, identify risk indicators, and prioritize matters requiring investigation or escalation. Present investigative findings, risk insights, trend observations and recommended actions to ECIT, ECRM, and firm leadership as needed. Support ECIT priorities, special projects, reporting initiatives, and other investigative or risk-management activities as needed. Knowledge And Skills Requirements Experience conducting or supporting corporate investigations, ethics and compliance reviews, risk assessments, or related investigative activities. Knowledge of ethics and compliance principles, risk management, internal controls, data governance, and investigation lifecycle practices. Specific knowledge of data exportation, data loss prevention, insider risk, information security, and common methods used to access, transfer, retain, or remove confidential information from corporate environments. Ability to analyze and synthesize high volumes of sensitive, complex, and sometimes ambiguous information to reach objective factual conclusions and identify broader risk implications. Comfort working with sensitive data, transaction records, time and expense information, system reports, and other structured and unstructured data sources. Strong interviewing skills, including the ability to build rapport with investigation participants quickly, frame questions, listen actively, and maintain composure and professionalism. Experience advising or briefing senior stakeholders on sensitive issues, risk considerations, and recommended mitigation steps. Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, discretion, independence, sound judgement, and the highest levels of confidentiality when handling sensitive matters. Solid project and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple sensitive matters, deadlines, stakeholders, and priorities simultaneously. Ability to quickly understand Firm business processes, risk areas, stakeholder needs, and operational environments relevant to investigations and compliance matters. Excellent communication skills, oral and written, including ability to draft clear and concise investigative summary memos or other legal and/or investigation-related documents. Strong consultative mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders. To qualify for this role, you must have Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 3+ years related work experience in corporate investigations, ethics and compliance, risk management, data protection, audit, legal, data analysis, finance, or a related business function; corporate investigative experience preferred. Experience working independently on projects combined with a proactive approach as appropriate to seek guidance or consult with colleagues for alternative views/suggestions. Experience handling sensitive, confidential, or regulated information and applying sound judgement in risk-based decision making. Ideally, you’ll also have Investigatory, ethics and compliance, fraud, audit, privacy, risk or human resources-related certification preferred, such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification, Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification. What We Offer You We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $67,900 to $123,300. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $81,500 to $140,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
