Business Development Specialist

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Location: Charlotte, NC POSITION SUMMARY The Business Development Specialist plays a vital role in driving growth for REIG's renewable energy projects. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, developing leads into actionable projects, and nurturing strong client relationships to enhance our market presence. Your success will depend on a proactive approach to market research and lead generation, coupled with effective collaboration with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of projects. You will also have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in various aspects of renewable energy, positioning yourself as a key player in our evolving industry. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Business Development Specialist reports to the CEO. Other temporary reporting relationships may be established based on project requirements. Collaborates closely with the Engineering, Project Management, and Finance teams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead Generation and Client Acquisition Engage with leads provided by the company to ensure timely communication and progression towards conversion. Development of leads into actionable new business opportunities. Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients through networking, referrals, and industry events. Client Relationship Management (CRM) Build and nurture relationships with potential clients, focusing on utilities, industrial sectors, and government agencies. Serve as a key point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing timely solutions to meet their needs. Utilize REIG’s CRM tool (HubSpot) to enter new contacts, set follow-up reminders, and document all communications with prospective customers for effective tracking. Market Research and Analysis Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, emerging technologies, and potential clients in the commercial, industrial, and utility scale solar and fiber optic sectors (Commercial and Industrial). Analyze competitors and market conditions to inform strategic planning. Collaboration and Communication Work with internal teams to communicate client feedback and market insights, facilitating the development of tailored bid packages. Collaborate with the CEO and relevant departments to prepare compelling presentations that articulate our value proposition to potential clients. Industry Engagement Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our brand and expand professional networks. Stay informed about industry developments and share insights with internal teams. COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software. REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field. A focus on renewable energy projects is preferred. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS New Business Acquisition Revenue Growth Bidding activity Proposal Success Rate Client Satisfaction WORKING CONDITIONS ~80% of work is performed in an office environment. ~20% of time is spent traveling to trade show conferences, customer meetings, and field visits to job sites. During field visits, seasonal weather conditions and typical construction site hazards may be encountered. When required, all employees are expected to don appropriate PPE for any site visit.
