Gould Grieco & Hensley is a personal injury law firm committed to advocating for justice and providing compassionate, client-centered representation. GGH is seeking a motivated Legal Clerk to support the firm’s California campaign matters from its Chicago office.

Position Summary

The Legal Clerk will assist attorneys, paralegals, and intake professionals with the investigation, development, and management of California campaign cases. The role requires careful follow-through, accurate data and document management, and professional communication with clients who may be discussing sensitive or traumatic experiences. The position is part-time, with the potential to transition to full-time employment based on performance, business needs, and the continued growth of the California campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the California legal team with campaign-related intake, pre-suit investigation, case development, and litigation preparation under attorney supervision.
\n
• Review lead and client materials for completeness; organize questionnaires, retainers, authorizations, medical records, correspondence, photographs, and other supporting documents.
\n
• Conduct factual and legal research involving California defendants, facilities, venue, statutes of limitation, revival-window issues, and other campaign-specific topics, and summarize findings for the legal team.
\n
• Prepare clear case chronologies, factual summaries, damages information, and investigative notes for attorney review.
\n
• Maintain complete and accurate matter information in Neos, including lead source, campaign designation, contacts, documents, status updates, tasks, and attorney instructions.
\n
• Assist with drafting and proofreading correspondence, legal documents, discovery materials, pleadings, and filing packages as directed by an attorney or paralegal.
\n
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with prospective and current clients to collect information, obtain documents, schedule calls, and provide attorney-approved updates.
\n
• Coordinate with California counsel, co-counsel, referring firms, medical providers, records vendors, and other third parties as directed.
\n
• Monitor assigned tasks and deadlines and promptly escalate missing information, client-contact concerns, conflicts, filing issues, or time-sensitive matters.
\n
• Protect confidential, privileged, personally identifiable, and health information and follow all firm policies governing data security and approved use of technology and artificial intelligence.
\n
• Provide administrative and project support for California campaigns and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

\n
• Current law student, bachelor’s degree holder.
\n
• At least one year of legal, intake, case-management, research, or administrative experience preferred; personal injury or mass-tort/campaign experience is a plus.
\n
• Strong research, writing, proofreading, organization, and analytical skills, with close attention to factual and data accuracy.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and communicate when guidance or escalation is needed.
\n
• Professional judgment, discretion, empathy, and comfort communicating with clients about sensitive matters.
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with Neos, e-filing platforms, document-management systems, or legal research tools is a plus.
\n
• Interest in learning California personal injury procedures and supporting a collaborative, multi-office legal team.
\n
• Ability to work part-time from GGH’s Chicago office on a schedule established with the firm.

• $22.00 per hour.
