Gender equality Host entity: UNFPA Modality: Onsite Type: National Volunteer category: Community UCoS from Apr2026 Work schedule: Full-time Number of Assignments: 1 Details Mission and objectives: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is the lead UnitedNations agency for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights with apriority focus on women and young people.The overall vision of thenew 8th Country Programme (2022-2026) is to improve the health andwell-being of women, young people; vulnerable and marginalizedgroups in Zimbabwe by ensuring universal access to qualityintegrated SRHR information and services in an enablingenvironment. This will contribute to the attainment of the threetransformative results in UNFPA''s Global Strategic Plan: Zero unmetneed for family planning, Zero preventable maternal deaths, Zerogender-based violence, and the East and Southern Africa regionalpriority of ending sexual transmission of HIV. Context: The UNFPA Zimbabwe Gender programme supports efficient andeffective GBV risk mitigation, prevention and response systems, andensures availability and accessibility of essential multi sectoralGBV services, especially for girls and women, including inhumanitarian settings. Specific interventions include: (a) advocacyfor the development and implementation of gender responsivelegislation, policy guidelines and strategies, and improved fundingfor reducing GBV; (b) improve knowledge of women and girls on lifeskills, gender-equitable norms, attitudes and behaviours, includingsexuality and reproduction, self-confidence and self-esteem, andtheir capacity to adequately access GBV services; (c) enhance thecapacity of national and subnational partners on GBV in emergenciespreparedness; (d) support male engagement interventions on positivemasculinities for the active involvement of men and boys to preventand address gender-based violence; (e) strengthen the capacities ofcommunities to ensure gender equality and increase the agency ofwomen and girls; (f) strengthen the integrated essential servicespackage on GBV within the health, judicial and other sectors,including ''one-stop centres'', community shelters and safe spaces;(g) scale-up mobile and remote GBV essential service provisionmodels in remote and hard-to-reach areas; and (h) scale-uppartnership and coordination and cooperation with the Government,United Nations agencies and other key stakeholders for jointprogramming and improved coordination to address gender-basedviolence and early marriage. Task description: Under the direct supervision of the Technical Specialist GenderEquality and GBV, the UN Volunteer will undertake the followingtasks: 1. Working with programme analyst Gender &GBV, come up withdraft annual work plans in consultation with IPs, relevant countryoffice colleagues and programme sup-port unit then facilitatefinalisation 2. Support review all implementing partner quarterly work plansand request for advances in line with the signed annual workplans 3. Participate in reviewing partner quarterly reports checkingaccuracy and contribution to the Gender unit CPD commitments andassist in organising quarterly review meetings as part ofmonitoring in order to keep track of progress 4. Support visibility of UNFPA in implementing partneractivities 5. Participate in field missions to support IP implementationof agreed work plan activities 6. Ensure linkages with other UNFPA programme areas i.e SRH,Adolescents and Youth and P&D in order to provide maximumbenefit to survivors in line with country office programme 7. As part of the gender team, contribute to resourcemobilisation efforts for GBV response 8. Participate in relevant internal and external meetingsensuring UNFPA mandate is well reflected and understood Eligibility criteria Age: 18 - 80 Required experience: No experience required Nationality: Candidate must be a national, legal residentor hold refugee status in the country of assignment.
