Corporate Labor Transactions Associate

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Corporate Labor Transactions Associate in Washington. The associate will collaborate with senior lawyers on corporate, finance, and restructuring matters, advising clients on complex pension issues in transactions, financings, and restructurings. Duties Advise on multiemployer and single-employer defined benefit pension plans. Analyze pension liabilities, including exposure from multiemployer plans. Support transactional teams in evaluating pension liabilities in diligence and deal structuring. Develop strategies to allocate, mitigate, or eliminate pension liabilities in acquisitions, financings, and restructurings. Address withdrawal liability disputes and advise on compliance with ERISA and PBGC requirements. Requirements Experience in employee benefits and ERISA. Experience with defined benefit pension plans, including multiemployer plan participation and withdrawal liability. Familiarity with pension issues in corporate transactions and/or restructurings. Strong analytical skills with financial and actuarial concepts related to pension liabilities. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Certifications Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction. Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
