General Counsel Opportunity In Tarrant County, TexasNextStep Recruiting has partnered with a financial services organization to identify a General Counsel in Tarrant County, Texas. This role is 100% onsite and will lead the legal, compliance, governance, and risk functions supporting a commercial equipment finance platform.This position is ideal for a business-minded legal executive with significant experience in commercial equipment finance who can advise senior leadership while remaining actively involved in transactions, litigation, workouts, and regulatory matters.Required:Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law10+ years of legal experience, including at least 5 years serving as lead or senior in-house counselDirect experience within commercial equipment finance or equipment leasingStrong background managing litigation, bankruptcy matters, restructurings, workouts, collections, and enforcement actionsExperience advising executive leadership and boards on legal risk, governance, compliance, and complex commercial mattersPreferred:Experience supporting a commercial lender, private credit platform, bank, or specialty finance organizationKnowledge of secured lending, UCC requirements, lien perfection, collateral remedies, and state licensing considerationsExperience negotiating credit agreements, leases, guarantees, forbearance agreements, settlements, and vendor contractsExposure to asset-based lending, factoring, capital markets, acquisitions, or private equity-backed environmentsTrack record of reducing outside counsel dependency and building scalable legal processes, policies, and templatesThis is an opportunity to build a sophisticated in-house legal function and play a meaningful role in the continued growth of an established financial services organization.
