Immigration Case Manager
Jean Law Group
Job Description
Job Description
Jean Law Group is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Immigration Case Manager to join our growing team.
We are not simply looking for someone who knows how to complete immigration forms. We are looking for a professional who understands that behind every case is a person, a family, and a future.
Jean Law Group is a client-centered immigration law firm committed to providing immigrants with dignity, guidance, and high-quality legal representation. Our vision is to be a beacon of hope and excellence in immigration law, known for our experience, integrity, results, and the way we treat the people we serve.
The ideal candidate is an experienced immigration professional who can confidently manage both USCIS and EOIR matters , requires little day-to-day guidance, takes ownership of their work, and genuinely cares about providing an exceptional client experience.
What We Are Looking For
Our ideal Immigration Case Manager is:
- Experienced. You already understand immigration processes, terminology, forms, deadlines, and case progression. You are comfortable working on both USCIS and EOIR matters and do not require extensive training on the fundamentals of immigration practice.
- Client-centered and empathetic. You understand that immigration cases can be stressful, emotional, and life-changing. You communicate with patience, kindness, professionalism, and respect—even when a client is anxious or frustrated.
- Self-directed. You do not wait to be told every next step. You review the file, understand the procedural posture of the case, identify what needs to happen next, and move the case forward.
- Efficient and organized. You can manage multiple cases, competing priorities, deadlines, and client communications without sacrificing accuracy or quality.
- Diligent and detail-oriented. You understand that small mistakes can have significant consequences in immigration matters. You review your work carefully and take responsibility for producing complete, accurate, high-quality work.
- Proactive. You anticipate deadlines, missing evidence, potential problems, and client needs rather than reacting after an issue develops.
- Accountable. You take ownership of your cases, tasks, deadlines, and communications. When something requires attorney attention, you escalate it promptly and provide the attorney with the information needed to make a decision.
- A strong communicator. You keep clients informed about the status of their cases, next steps, anticipated timelines, and outstanding requirements. Clients should never have to repeatedly contact the firm simply to understand what is happening with their case.
- A team player. You understand that excellent representation requires collaboration, communication, and mutual accountability.
Key Responsibilities
The Immigration Case Manager will work closely with attorneys and other members of the legal team to manage a diverse immigration caseload.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage immigration cases from intake/assignment through filing and post-filing follow-up.
- Prepare and review immigration forms, applications, petitions, supporting documentation, declarations, and filing packages.
- Handle a variety of USCIS matters , which may include family-based petitions, adjustment of status, naturalization, asylum, employment authorization, waivers, VAWA matters, consular processing, and other humanitarian or family-based immigration benefits.
- Assist attorneys with EOIR/removal defense matters , including asylum, cancellation of removal, motions, court filings, pleadings, supporting evidence, and preparation for individual and master calendar hearings.
- Review Notices to Appear, hearing notices, USCIS notices, RFEs, NOIDs, biometrics notices, interview notices, and other government correspondence.
- Calendar and monitor USCIS, EOIR, attorney, and internal deadlines.
- Prepare and file appropriate EOIR documentation, including appearances and supporting filings.
- Regularly review case status, processing times, court information, and pending deadlines.
- Communicate proactively with clients regarding case progress, missing documents, upcoming appointments, deadlines, and next steps.
- Identify potential legal or procedural issues and promptly escalate them to the supervising attorney.
- Conduct appropriate follow-up after filings and ensure cases continue moving forward.
- Assist attorneys with hearing, interview, and trial preparation as needed.
- Maintain organized electronic files and comply with the firm's quality-control procedures.
- Protect client confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Prior professional experience working in U.S. immigration law .
- Meaningful experience with both USCIS and EOIR cases .
- Strong understanding of immigration forms, procedures, deadlines, and case progression.
- Ability to manage a caseload with minimal supervision .
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and case-management skills.
- Ability to read attorney notes, understand instructions, and independently determine appropriate next steps.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where immigration policies and procedures can change quickly.
- Ability and willingness to learn new policies, procedures, and legal developments.
- Professional judgment to recognize when an issue requires attorney review rather than attempting to resolve a legal question independently.
- Commitment to exceptional client service.
Bilingual ability is strongly preferred , particularly English/Haitian Creole and/or English/Spanish.
Experience with immigration case-management software and electronic filing systems is strongly preferred.
The Person Who Will Thrive at Jean Law Group
Technical experience matters, but who you are and how you work matter just as much.
You will thrive here if you believe that clients deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, kindness, patience, and professionalism .
You understand that good client service is not simply answering the telephone when a client calls. It means being proactive. It means knowing your cases. It means communicating before a client becomes worried. It means giving clients realistic expectations and helping them understand what comes next.
You take pride in your work. You do not believe that "good enough" is good enough when someone's family, freedom, or future may be affected by the work we perform.
You are also comfortable with accountability. You complete your tasks, document your work, communicate when there is a problem, and accept responsibility for the cases entrusted to you.
Most importantly, you remember that every case is personal and every client's story matters.
Our work is about more than processing applications. We help keep families together, reunite loved ones, protect individuals facing removal, and help immigrants pursue secure futures in the United States.
We expect excellence, but we believe excellence and humanity belong together.
Our team members are expected to:
Lead with dignity.
Work with integrity.
Communicate with compassion.
Take ownership.
Pursue excellence.
Remain accountable.
And never lose sight of the human being behind the case.
At the heart of our success is a deep-seated respect for every individual who walks through our doors. We believe that every client deserves to be treated with dignity and kindness,
regardless of their background or legal circumstances. Our team embodies patience, professionalism, and unwavering support, ensuring that every client feels heard, valued, and empowered.
We distinguish ourselves from the sea of immigration
law firms by providing unparalleled service and
achieving exceptional results. Every case is handled
with a personal touch—our attorney and staff know
each client by name and understand their unique story. We go beyond the legal paperwork, becoming partners in their journey to live out the American dream. The founder of Jean Law Group, Ruth Jean, entered the United States with her mother by boat at the age of two. Because of her own personal experience being undocumented, she understands the complexities of the immigration process and can empathize with those in the process. Her journey fuels the firm’s mission and commitment to fighting for immigrant families, ensuring they received the advocacy and representation they deserve.
