The Shipping and Receiving Clerk coordinates daily warehouse operations with a focus on shipping, receiving, inventory management, and order processing. In this role, you spend most of your time working at a desk in the warehouse using ERP and related systems to manage shipments, documentation, and inventory, while also supporting hands-on activities such as loading and unloading trucks, wrapping pallets, and general material handling. You contribute directly to efficient logistics, accurate inventory control, and timely order fulfillment within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform shipping and receiving activities for approximately 60% of the workday, ensuring all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed accurately and on time.
• Use the company ERP system to enter, update, and track orders, shipments, and inventory data, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Work regularly in Microsoft Excel to create, update, and manage spreadsheets related to inventory, shipping schedules, and logistics reporting.
• Process parcel shipments through UPS Worldship and coordinate Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) freight, including scheduling pickups and preparing necessary shipping documents.
• Support inventory management within the Warehouse Management System (WMS), including inventory control, cycle counting, and resolving discrepancies.
• Handle order processing tasks such as picking orders, order selection, and preparing materials for shipment in accordance with customer and internal requirements.
• Utilize warehouse scanners and bar-coding equipment to track inventory movement, confirm picks, and maintain accurate stock levels.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks for approximately 20% of the workday, using appropriate material handling techniques to move, stage, and secure products.
• Wrap pallets and prepare freight for shipment to ensure safe transport and compliance with carrier requirements.
• Perform miscellaneous warehouse and material handling tasks as needed to support overall logistics and operations.
• Train on and operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts as required to move materials, support shipping and receiving, and maintain efficient warehouse flow.
• Collaborate with a small warehouse team, including peers, a supervisor, and a manager, to meet daily operational goals and maintain a safe, organized work area.
• Follow established logistics, inventory control, and material handling procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards.
• Use Microsoft Office applications to communicate, document activities, and support administrative aspects of shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
• Coordinate with carriers such as UPS and FedEx to manage pickups, deliveries, and any shipment-related issues.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• At least 2 years of experience working with an ERP system for order processing, shipping, and inventory management.
• At least 2 years of experience operating a forklift, ideally including both sit-down and stand-up lifts.
• At least 2 years of experience in inventory management and cycle counting.
• Hands-on experience using warehouse scanners or bar-coding equipment for inventory control and order picking.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking, and basic spreadsheet management.
• Experience using UPS Worldship to process and manage parcel shipments.
• Familiarity with scheduling and coordinating LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight.
• Knowledge of logistics and material handling practices in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to perform order selection, picking, and packing tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Comfort working with Microsoft Office applications in a warehouse operations context.
• Ability to safely load and unload trucks and wrap pallets for shipment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in shipping documentation and inventory records.

• Experience in inventory control processes, including cycle counting and discrepancy resolution.
• Familiarity with FedEx or other parcel carriers and related shipping platforms.
• Ability to learn and adapt to different ERP and WMS systems as needed.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and tasks throughout the day.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and external carriers.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility and is part of a small, collaborative warehouse team that includes three peers, a supervisor, and a manager. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. Work takes place both at a desk and on the warehouse floor, with regular use of computers, ERP and WMS systems, Microsoft Excel, UPS Worldship, and warehouse scanning and bar-coding equipment. Material handling tools and forklifts (sit-down and stand-up) are used as needed for loading, unloading, and moving inventory. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans or work pants, and a t-shirt or long-sleeve shirt, appropriate for a hands-on industrial environment. The facility supports a team-oriented atmosphere where safety, efficiency, and collaboration are priorities, and employees are permitted to wear one earbud while working.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr.
