The Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington invites applications for up to eight clinical practice faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Practice. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a twelve-month full-time basis for a term of 3 years beginning July 1, 2027; specific start date is negotiable.

The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the Clinical Practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The successful candidate will be expected to serve as an attending physician in the Hospital Medicine Program at Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center (Montlake and Northwest Campuses), or VA Puget Sound Health Care System. They will also be expected to teach residents and medical students. Candidates will be considered across a range of interests in internal medicine.

Salary: The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $14,334 - $20,672 per month ($172,008 - $248,064 annually), Associate Professor range: $19,936 - $22,944 per month ($239,232 - $275,328 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other Compensation: Other compensation associated with this position will include a pay supplement (CCO) for work on the hospital medicine service. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan.

Qualifications: Applicants for these clinical practice faculty positions must meet the following minimum qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License. *Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship. University sponsorship is not possible for a J-1 visa or employer based permanent residence sponsorship in the clinical faculty track. For VAPSHCS applicants: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
