Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in our Med Surg Neuro unit. The RN will be responsible for managing a diverse patient population, including those with neurological conditions, post-operative care, and general medical-surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to medical-surgical tele patients, including those with strokes, stable neurological deficits, and post-neurosurgery patients.
• Titrate medications such as heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine as required.
• Collaborate with charge nurses and support staff to facilitate optimal patient care.
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status, ensuring compliance with protocols.
• Participate in hourly rounding and responsiveness initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and safety.
• Assist in the orientation of new nursing staff and support patient care technicians.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required.
• Experience in MedSurg/Tele nursing preferred.
• No license or background issues.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 25
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Typical Patients: Joint replacements, fractures, respiratory exacerbations, and various other medical conditions.
• Mechanical lifts available in select rooms.
• Support staff including nurse aides and patient care techs available.

Work Schedule

• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts (0630-1900 or 1830-0700)
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend, with additional shifts based on needs.
• Holiday Requirements: 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
• Floating to other medical surgical areas may be required.

Orientation and Training

The selected candidates will undergo a comprehensive orientation program spanning two days.

Dress Code

Scrubs are navy blue; provided for staff.
