Lunch/Recess Monitors

This position is contracted through Edustaff. Reports to: Building Administrator. Schedule: M-F 10 hrs/wk. Salary: $13/hour.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Other: First Aid & CPR (will provide training) Medication Training (will provide) Preferred experience working with children. Efficient and effective communication. Problem solving capabilities.

Conditions of Work

• Must be physically capable of prolonged standing, walking, and stooping.
• The worker may be subjected to inside and outside environmental conditions and noise.

Summary: Providing assistance to the professional staff at the school by monitoring student behavior during lunch/recess periods within the student day. Lunch/recess monitors shall exercise prudence in carrying out their assigned duties and shall report any difficulties or unusual problems to the Building Administrator.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lunch Room monitoring
• Playground/Recess monitoring and supervision (indoor and outdoor, possibly in very cold, hot and/or wet weather)
• Ensures safety and acceptable conduct for all students
• Communicate respectfully, appropriately, and effectively with students and school personnel
• Reports any incidents to appropriate school personnel
• Assists in organizing activities and games during recess if needed
• Ensures that all items such as materials, games, ball, etc are returned to their proper location

• Gives special attention to safety factors when weather or other circumstances occur while at lunch or recess
• Immediately reports any injury to the proper personnel
• Serves as a positive role model to students
• Must familiarize self with rules, procedures, and standards of the school and the school system to ensure safety and order
• Must become familiar with the safe use of playground equipment and rules for playground games
• Administer emergency medication (EpiPen)
• Other duties as assigned
